Croatia Cruise Tips & Travel Guide

Mediterranean cruises in and around Croatia.

As you explore the history and sea scapes of the Adriatic Sea, you will swim in the refreshing waters of beautiful archipelagos with over one thousand islands, and visit cities with thousands of years of history.

The Dalmatian Coast: Is a narrow belt of the east shore of the Adriatic Sea. Starting from island of Rab in the north to the Bay of Kotor in the south, the Dalmatian Coast  is legendary for it's quaint ports, rugged mountains, dozens of spectacular castles.
Expeditions along Croatia's Dalmatian Coast feature charming destinations like:
  • Dubrovnik: A delightful UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic."
  • SplitThe coastal city known for having some of the best beaches for swimming nearby, including the famed beach town of Bol on the island of Brač
  • HvarA summer resort city known for its 13th century walls and ancient fortress.
  • Zadar: This city on a peninsula has romain ruins, medieval churches and trendy cafes
  • Mljet National Park: Where you can visit the Great & Small Lakes and a Benedictine
  • The Elaphiti Islands: An archipelago with crystal, turquoise waters great for an afternoon dip.
Cruises from Croatia couple excellently with cruises around the neighboring countries as well, like Italy, Greece, and the Balkan states.

Croatia FAQ Cruise

Why should I choose a Croatia cruise?

Cruises of the Mediterranean give you access to the Dalmatian Coast and Dubrovnik and the waters beyond the Adriatic Sea and River cruises on the Danube River are a great way to see the best of the Croatian interior. These all-inclusive packages bundle meals, transportation, comfortable lodging, and daily excursions into one excellent value. And the fact that you are cruising in your hotel means that you can gain access to new destinations each day without wasting any time on buses or trains or having to pack and unpack your suitcase.

What should I look for on a riverboat or small cruise ship?

The vessels designed for Croatian cruises tend to be smaller yachts with occupancy of 50+ passengers. Each one features a sun deck with comfortable chairs, spacious cabins, and a dining area and bar where you can enjoy gourmet cuisine along the way. Some of the small ships and riverboats even offer free equipment rental, like bikes, kayaks, and snorkels depending on the itinerary.

Can I find a five-star yacht or ship for my Croatian cruise?

Yes and no – yes, you can absolutely find a boat that will offer you an unforgettable itinerary led by expert guides and enjoy lodging that ranges from comfortable to luxurious onboard the boat; no, technically none of the boats that explore Croatia & the Dalmatian Coast are "five stars" because they are much smaller than the cruise ships that earn this ranking.

Should I get a room with a balcony?

Most people think that having a balcony is the only real way to experience the Mediterranean, but the truth is since the ships we feature are smaller, buying a room with a balcony can be an unneeded expense when it's just as easy to enjoy the fresh sea air from the sun deck or book a room with floor-to-ceiling windows for the same panoramic view a balcony offers without losing the floor space in your room or hundreds of dollars on the price tag.

What is dining like?

As you cruise along the coasts of Croatia, you will find that there is a unique style to the local Mediterranean cuisine. Mixed with international cuisine, you'll enjoy a burst of authentic local flavors on your river cruise.

What kind of power outlets are there? Will I need a converter?

As long as your 110v devices are able to handle 220v power (which most are), then you will not need a power converter. However, the plugs are either three flat prongs or two round prongs, so you will need a plug adapter if you have flat pronged US-style plugs.

How can I save money on a Croatian cruise?

Look for deals and promotions on the Deals page for the destinations that you'd like to visit or just let one of our agents know where you want to go and we will loop you into all of the latest deals and promos. Consider not trying to save money by booking a lower-class cabin since you will also be sacrificing comfort and space if space is important to you.
